Archer: Linguistic Jokes.
A theme prevalent throughout all 9 seasons of Archer are the linguistic jokes.
The show is filled with a plethora of wordplay and double entendres. The main crew can all be seen making double entendres and whether it be done purposely or not while another can be seen calling out "Phrasing!" instead of "That's what she said." that we commonly saw being used years ago. The writers even change it up from time to time for example; In season 8 the double entendres are topped off by the drummer off-screen doing the classic "ba-dum-tsss."
Sound and language, in general, becomes what sets this show apart from other shows similar to it. The way syntax and vocabulary is used is so essential and important to the way the author conveys funny one-liners and jokes. The jokes in this show are so dense that one watch through may not be enough to catch all of them.
One of the jokes I found doing a cursory search about this topic was:
Pam: No! The solution to every problem isn't throwing freakin' acid on it.
Krieger: Unless the problem requires a solution with an overly alkaline pH balance.
Krieger: Unless the problem requires a solution with an overly alkaline pH balance.
I completely missed this, probably along with a couple hundred
other jokes that flew under the radar at least for me.
I had a really good paragraph getting deep into how Adam Reed uses language and how the show catches readers off-guard with its wittiness, but my internet cut off so you just have to take my word for it...
