Cowboy Bebop: see you, Space Cowboy
If you were ever awake long past your bedtime in the late 2000s and early 2010s after watching some Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends or Codename: Kids Next Door on Cartoon Network you might have been caught off with some of the shows that ran after whether it be Futurama or King of the Hill.
This part of Cartoon Network is a block of shows dedicated to Adults conveniently named Adult Swim. If you were still up, even later though, like I'm talking a couple hours before you should be waking up for school late, you would've seen the lesser-known part of the channel named Toonami.
This was mainly for the otakus or weeaboos
(ie: people who really enjoy or obsess over anime and other parts of Japanese culture.)
There were many shows that aired but the one I want to focus on is Cowboy Bebop. While only having 1 season and being originally airing in Japanese this show did amazing in America in the dubbed version. One of the many reasons I believe it was great was that there was incredible attention to detail, unlike other animes. For example, it's dub
(when voice actors redo the voice of the characters in another language)
was great and flowed seamlessly and it didn't seem out of place or clunky like watching those old kung-fu movies where the words and the lip movement of the actors are hilariously off.
Another reason would have to be the storyline. It was so easy to follow like I personally have terrible memory and forget where I left off and so I choose a random episode to watch. I can honestly say I haven't been dissatisfied with what ever was currently going on anytime i did that. It didn't matter if you weren't caught up with the plot or if you just randomly caught yourself in the middle of the season you could easily catch yourself enjoying whatever was going on. The only episode that wouldn't have been a good starting point would have to be be the finale,
(which was a tear-jerker to keep it brief)
because a lot of what was going on wouldn't really have any significance to a first-time watcher.
All in all this show is incredible and I don't enjoy Asian style anime all that much, but this show is seemingly flawless besides the fact that it is only one season.
